Five ways to build brand awareness

Many people can be reluctant to use a company they’ve never heard of before. Building brand awareness is a way of creating familiarity around your company. This can help customers to see you as more established and trustworthy (so that one day, when they eventually need your product or service, they may choose to turn to you). 

There are many ways to generate brand awareness. Below are just a few different ways to make more people aware of your brand. 

Advertise everywhere

The more places you advertise, the more likely people are to stumble across your logo or company name. If they are continuously exposed to your logo or company name, they may then start to remember your brand.

When it comes to digital marketing, look into different forms of paid advertising. Display adverts can be found on almost every website, while the likes of Facebook and YouTube have their own specific forms of advertising. Aim to have adverts all over the internet by investing in different forms of advertising.

It’s worth also looking into forms of physical advertising such as creating some Allvision billboards or printing off some flyers. You could even consider radio advertising.

Work with influencers and partners

Other people may be able to further spread information about your brand.

A marketing strategy that has become popular in the last decade is influencer marketing. This involves paying famous Instagram models, Twitter accounts and Youtubers to promote your product.

You can also team up with other companies and ask them to promote your company in exchange for promoting theirs in return. This allows you to both share each other’s audience.

Show off your most unique features

Some people have trained themselves to tune out adverts. In order to get these consumers’ heads to turn, you need to do something really unique. 

Showing off your unique features is one way of doing this. This could include advertising your most unusual products (this is strategy that Wish uses) or turning your USP into a slogan (FedEx may not have become such a famous delivery company if it wasn’t for their 80s slogan ‘When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight’).

Host contests

Hosting contests can be a great way of building brand awareness. Everyone that enters your contest will become familiar with your brand, whether or not they win the contest. 

Contests could be held on social media or at events such as trade shows. Make sure to offer prizes that make your competition worth entering. 

Stir up some controversy

Another way to build brand awareness is to do something controversial. Controversy is memorable and could help people to remember your company name for years to come. 

Of course, you do need to be careful when doing something controversial – not everyone is going to like it, and you will end up pushing some customers away. Make sure that you’re pushing away customers that you have no interest in working with, while appealing to customers that are your key demographic. Alternatively, try to put some humor into it.
